Hisense’s 110UX 110-Inch TV Makes Quite A Statement: CES 2024

The Hisense 110UX ULED TV delivers a rather exceptional looking 110-inch 4K image in a stunning piece of industrial design. Will the price kill it?

Samsung has been looking into the rear view mirror for the past 24 months thinking that LG were their biggest rival; that may be the case from a technology perspective, but the reality is that Hisense are starting to make things interesting for the Korean giant. Do not be surprised in 2 or 3 years when this company becomes the second largest TV brand in the world. Based on the quality of the Hisense 110UX 110-inch 4K TV on display at CES 2024 — that day may be coming sooner than one thinks.

Whilst the majority of their booth was used to show off their extensive ULED TV line-up and other products offered in a wide range of categories — this behemoth and striking piece of industrial design was all the rage at the show.

Hisense impressed many (including myself) at CEDIA Expo 2023 with its 100-inch U8K model TV, but the 110UX really struck a nerve with a lot of home theater professionals and rival manufacturers.

Tip: U8K is a model number. The TV is not an 8K resolution TV.

Tech Note: Hisense also showed a 110-inch ULED X TV at last year’s CES (2023), but this new model elevates core features even higher.

TV vs. Laser TV

When it comes to really large screen sizes, Hisense is primarily known for its well-regarded UST Laser TV line which offers 100-inch and larger screen sizes by combining a laser light source with DLP projection technology. However, there are a lot of consumers who prefer the higher brightness capability of a TV rather than a projector solution, so why not offer them both options?

Hisense 110UX

Hisense’s ULED X technology is designed to provide higher brightness levels and on-screen picture quality that Hisense claims have never been achieved before.

The 110UX is a 4K UHD LCD TV that incorporates mini-LED backlighting. However, this mini-LED backlight provides 40,000 zones using intelligent control that minimizes backlight leakage while elevating contrast.

The high-output Mini LED backlight also achieves a brightness level of up to 10,000 nits. This significantly enhances contrast and dynamic range. This means that HDR content can be displayed as realistically as possible.

In addition to significant brightness and contrast, the 110UX can display 95% of the BT.2020 color palette compared to many other displays that only achieve up to 80% of the color space. ISF calibrators will likely be able to squeeze even more performance out of this impressive looking panel.

To support the brightness and color capability of the 110UX, Hisense engineers have included new panel materials and more advanced Quantum Dot technology

Additionally, the 110UX’s ultra-low anti-glare film and internal panel structure are designed to support an ultra-low 1.28% reflectance rate. This results in reduced disruptions from ambient lighting for better visual clarity.

In addition, STW2.0 wide-angle film technology minimizes backlight leakage, halos, and color shift issues, ensuring an exceptional viewing experience from all angles.

The 110UX is powered by a newly developed X-Chipset with AI-powered picture quality features such as AI Contrast and AI Depth. The chip recognizes scenes and content, making real-time adjustments to optimize the quality of displayed images.

For audio, the 110UX has a built-in 4.2.2-channel speaker system, as well as Dolby Atmos FlexConnect wireless audio technology which has been previously adopted by TCL.

From Hisense: “By bringing this collection of industry benchmark hardware and software together, 110UX is a testament to the evolution of LED display design, where innovation and consumer-focused engineering converge to redefine picture quality. For these reasons among others, Hisense 110UX is a CES 2024 Innovation Awards honoree in the Audio/Video Components & Accessories category“.

Our early impression of the 110UX is that it offers a very bright image with very good contrast and color accuracy. A show floor is never an ideal location to judge a panel like this but this TV could be a huge seller for Hisense if the price is not over $20,000 USD — which it likely is.

Price & Availability

We will update this article with more detailed specifications and pricing once provided by Hisense; the TV will likely go on sale this year in the United States which will be exciting news for home theater fans.

Until the 110UX becomes available, the Hisense U8K 100-inch Mini-LED 4K TV (2023 model) is the largest size available at this time. It’s now $3,999 at Amazon.
