Denon’s extensive AVR product lineup added a new model at 2023 CEDIA EXPO with the new AVR-X6800H that will be available in 2024.
The AVR-X6800H
The AVR-X6800H (AVC-X6800H outside the U.S.) is positioned between Denon’s flagship A1H and the rest of their current X-series receiver line.
Full specifications haven’t been announced yet, but here is a summary of what has been officially provided so far as well as some likely features based on Denon’s other similar AVRs.
Channels: The AVR-X6800H incorporates 11 channels of built-in amplification that support up to 7.4.4 channel speaker setups.
Tip: When used in AV preamp/processor mode, the X6800H provides up to 13.4 channels of audio processing.
Subwoofer Support: 4 independent RCA subwoofer outputs are included.
HDMI: 7 HDMI inputs, all of which support up to 8K resolution pass-through at 40GBps transfer rate are included.
Home Theater Audio: The AVR-X6800H has you covered for home theater sound with extensive decoding support for almost all surround sound formats including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Auro 3D as well as IMAX Enhanced.
Tip: Additional surround processing includes Dolby Surround, DTS Neural:X, and Auro-Matic. These processing options can extract expanded surround sound from two or more channels of information to take full advantage of any speaker setup option used.
HDMI 2.1 Support: Includes HDMI-eARC and Gaming Support (4K/120Hz, 8K/60Hz) with up to 40Gbps transfer rate, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), and Quick Frame Transport (QFT).
HDR: Pass-through of all HDR formats, including Dolby Vision is provided.
Control: Wireless IR remote included
Smartphone App Control: iOS, Android
Additional Control Options: 12-volt trigger (2), wired remote sensor (in/out), RS232C, IP Control
Room Correction: Audyssey Room Correction Built-in which includes MultEQ, Dynamic EQ, and Dynamic Volume
Tip: The AVR-X6800H supports Dirac Live room correction via a firmware update. Dirac Live allows users to fine-tune speakers connected to a receiver to more accurately match the acoustic environment of the room they are placed in, providing a more well-rounded music listening experience with better accuracy, larger sweet spot, more precise voice intelligibility, as well as deeper, but less boomy bass. Dirac Live is designed to provide more precision than Audyssey and other room correction systems.
Hi-Res Audio: Support for 24-bit/192kHz audio playback. Digital audio format support includes MP3, WMA, WAV, MPEG-4/AAC, FLAC, and ALAC.
Wireless connectivity: Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Wi-Fi (Wired Ethernet is also included if needed). HEOS multiroom wireless streaming is also supported.
Tip: Although not mentioned in preliminary information, Roon Tested certification is included with select AVRs below (AVR-X series) and above (1AH) so barring any new licensing issues, the same probably holds for the AVR-X6800H.
Wired Inputs: HDMI (7), Analog (7), Phono (MM-1), Digital Optical (2), Digital Coaxial (2), USB (1 Front/1 Rear)
Tip: The AVR-X6800H is one of the rare AVRs now that also has Analog Video (2) and Component Video (1) inputs.
Wired Outputs: HDMI (3), Multichannel Pre-out (17), SubWoofer (4), Analog video input signals are converted to digital video for output via HDMI.
Speaker Connections: 13 Pairs of speaker terminals (only 11 can be used at the same time). Details in the forthcoming user guide.
Price & Availability
The AVR-X6800H will be shown at the 2023 CEDIA EXPO from September 7-9 and is expected to be available for purchase in early 2024 (official product page and price to be provided closer to product release date).

I have a Denon AVR4300H but if I went this route (the 6800) I would definitely need a bigger room. My current 9.2 setup is in a 10 X 10 room. I now have twin 8 inch subs instead of the 12s and then the 10s I previously tried out. My wife was upset over my watching “Predator” (pre-neutered arnie) so loud it was, her words “…like being in the theater!”.
Ed-freakin’-zactly!
Denon/Marantz are easily my favorite brand(s) for Home Theatre(!) as well as multi-room music
Thank you for this look at the new 6800!
Siskel & ORTbert…minus…Well. You get it. 😉

Not much competition for a lot more than the Pioneer VSA-LX805 and Integra DRX-8.4. Both are 150W x 11.4, feature balanced I/O, come with Dirac Live, Works With Sonos, have three HDMI 2.1 outs, feature assignable passive subwoofer speaker amplifiers, and are Roon Ready.

It doesn’t feel like a bargain at the price when you take everything into consideration. I would be more inclined to order a Cinema 70 or one of the two you mentioned.
Best,

How do the Pioneer and Integra offering more power and features than the Denon for $500 less not strike you as a better deal? And the Cinema 70 wasn’t part of the comparison.

I’m referring to the Marantz. It’s clearly NOT a better deal.

Oh, I apologize. I misread your reply. You were saying the DENON doesn’t sound like much of a deal. My bad.

What DAC?

Denon are not that willing to share certain aspects of their designs but I do know that Burr Brown DACs have been used in a lot of their AVRs over the past decade.
We will dig some more to find that information.

and also, any information on processor. I know the AV1 published a dual core 1ghz. Is it same?
