LG has a great reputation in TVs with its well-established OLED TV line, but they also offer up several soundbar models designed to complement the TV viewing experience with great sound.
At CES 2022, LG Electronics USA will introduce a new lineup of audio products with several models offering improved performance, stylish designs and while ensuring accurate, immersive sound for home cinema, music, and gaming.
Although more details are forthcoming for each model in their line-up, LG is officially teasing its top-of-line S95QR soundbar system ahead of CES.
S95QR Features
Here are some of the details LG has released so far for the S95QR.
Power Output: LG is boasting that the S95QR has a total power output capability of 810 watts. However, no reference point for that rating has been mentioned.
Channel Configuration: The S95QR incorporates 9.1.5 discrete channels. This includes three front channels, six surround channels (housed in two rear speaker cabinets), five upfiring speakers, and a side-firing ported wireless subwoofer.
The five upfiring channels include the world’s first center up-firing speaker to support better dialog and vocal clarity, as well as two more on the soundbar and two in the separate rear speakers to support Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced height effects with compatible content.
Speaker Design: In addition to the number of speakers, LG has made several improvements to its soundbar speaker design. This includes new speaker drivers, speaker chambers, larger woofers, and an improved subwoofer.
LG has also upgraded the wireless rear speakers to accommodate six channels (four front/side drivers and two up-firing drivers). The rear speakers are also designed to distribute sound evenly across a 135-degree space, providing more speaker placement and angle flexibility in rooms of different sizes and shapes.
Wireless Speaker Support: LG has improved the sensitivity of the system’s wireless receivers allowing for more distance between the soundbar, subwoofer, and rear speakers without sacrificing sound quality.
Music: For added support for music playback, the S95QR incorporates Meridian Audio Horizon Technology which up-mix two-channel audio to 7.1-channels for a more immersive music listening experience. The S95QR also supports Hi-Res Audio (up to 24bit/96Khz).
AI Room Calibration: To get the most out of both movie and music listening the S95QR also includes AI room calibration. This allows you to tailor soundbar performance by analyzing the dimensions of the room.
Gaming: The S95QR features variable refresh rate (VRR) and auto low latency mode (ALLM), providing console gamers with a perfect sync between the onscreen action and audio.
NOTE: 4K/120Hz HDR passthrough for gaming is not supported.
AI Sound Pro: When connected to a compatible LG TV, the S95QR takes advantage of the TV’s advanced AI Sound Pro capability. This feature automatically adjusts frequency range and sound field extension in accordance with the genre of content the user is watching, such as movies, news, or music.
Wired and Wireless Connectivity:
- 2 HDMI connections including one with ARC/eARC support.
- 1 Digital optical input
- Bluetooth
- Wi-Fi
- LG WOWCAST Wi-Fi audio dongle (sold separately). This eliminates the need for an audio cable connection between the soundbar system and compatible LG TVs.
Control Options: You can use one remote to control both the TV and the soundbar. In addition the S95QR works with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and other AI assistants (refer to the user guide). This allows easy voice control of streaming music, volume, and sound modes.
Availability and pricing for the LG S95QR soundbar system as well as more details on the rest of LG’s 2022 soundbar line-up will be announced at CES 2022 or shortly thereafter.
