curious where you got these right angle spades. the speaker and input terminals are probably the weakest link on the 400.

My dad had this exact Fisher and as a kid I never appreciated what he had. Somewhere along the line he got rid of the unit. Had a Fisher TT and a Sony reel to reel. Cant remember what speakers. I would kill to have it back. Thanks for the article.

I have a collection of Fisher receivers that I’ve owned for 20+ years now, 400, 500c and 800c along with a x100 amp. Just so your readers know that 65 watts is a bit misleading. What they use to do is combine left and right channel output numbers for an amp total for the power supply. The actual output per channel for the 400 is 32.5w. The 500c and 800c were rated at the time as 70watts but are actually 35w per channel.

In reply to raul a murria. oh NO!! its so easy you cannot mess it up its got pins on the bottom of the tube there is a space simply line it up correctly hover thtube over the socket to eye the actual fit when the pins key match just lightly yet firmly push down if by some dumb reason you run into too much resistance when pushing them down then you MUST stop and find out why sometimes a pin got loose and stayed in the socket but this is an extremely rare event its no harder than plugging a lamp in a wall socket only diff is that there are more tangs on a tube..it took me longer to write that than it takes to install a complete set of power tubes (the ones in the back of the fisher 400 unit..dont blow money having to unplug disturb the unit when its so easy any child could do it

In reply to raul a murria. Bought one in 1974 at a Phoenix flea market. Hosed it down. Bought new tubes. Electronics shoppe but it on occiliscope and it outperformed transistor amps!
